Sensual and Sensitive -""I'm from Earth, Not Mars
Published in Hardcover by 1stBooks Library (August, 2002)
Average review score:

One may love again. After reading: Sensual and Sensitive "I'm from Earth, Not Mars", I found there seemed a unique understanding of the writer to express not only his feelings... but others as well. He seems especially capable of demonstrating an understanding of the pain, and guilt inflicted upon women by others and/or themselves. One gets the impression that Dr. Rochte sincerely has in the past dealt with women in need of patience and time to heal. He seems to go to great lengths to impart faith in their ability to recover from the lose of love. He's not afraid to share in his own loses and emotions. Something quite uncommon today. Yes, a box of tissues may be needed at times as one reads this book.

Shipwreck of the Mesquite: Death of a Coast Guard Cutter
Published in Paperback by Lake Superior Port Cities (November, 1992)
Average review score:

Great story, EXCELLENT photosA few years back I borrowed this book from my local library. The TRUE story of the Cutter Mesquite is very intruiging, but I must say the best part of the book is the crystal-clear full color underwater photos of the wreck. Unlike most underwater wreck photos, these are bright, clear, in color and best of all interesting. You can see photos of a file cabinet with one drawer open and tons of soaked files still hanging from it. Also a xerox machine, and other office supplies and crew supplies that were perfectly good and usable but for some reason were not removed from the Mesquite before it was scuttled. It looks as though it was business as usual on the cutter right up until the very end.
Unfortunately this book is out-of-print, and I cannot seem to find it on ebay. A shame. Let's hope they re-issue it very soon! A must for Great Lakes wreck enthusiasts!

Shorter Lexicon of the Greek New Testament
Published in Hardcover by University of Chicago Press (November, 1983)
Average review score:

Excellent Tool for NT Study! The "Shorter Lexicon of the Greek New Testament" is a shorter version of that excellent "A Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature" or simply "BDAG." This shorter version is quite excellent if you just need New Testament definition of the Greek word. In review:
1. The defintions are short, simple and concentrates on the meaning of the NT words itself. This book excludes the words from Apostolic Fathers and other early Christian literatures.
1. The defintions are short, simple and concentrates on the meaning of the NT words itself. This book excludes the words from Apostolic Fathers and other early Christian literatures.
2. The book includes "English words derived from Greek terms." This element helps readers to gain more insight to the word and remember the words better.
3. The typeset is better than its first edition. Fonts are clear and crisp, therefore they are easy on your eyes.
4. The book is small, light, and portable. This is great! If you cannot carry that big and heavy BDAG.
In sum, if you cannot afford 3rd edition of BDAG and intimadated by its huge size, then this shorter lexicon is just right for you! Even though I own 3rd ed of BDAG, I use this shorter lexicon for portability when I am out. Recommended heartily.

Sitting in Darkness: Americans in the Philippines
Published in Paperback by Viking Press (October, 1986)
Average review score:

sitting in darkness helped me see the lightTruly a wonderful book...more like 2 or 3 books in one. It traces the early life of Funston..worthy of a book on its own but none out there that I can find. if you like the adventurous explorer scholarly type this is the man. Kind of a Richard Burton character...no silly... not the actor. Then it traces the history of the rebel movement at the turn of the century with the focus on Aguinaldo's movements in Northern Luzon. And finally it traces the author and his merry band as they retrace the steps of Funston in his bid to capture Aguinaldo in the early 1980's. So, in short if you are a student of history...READ IT!. If you like adventure or war stories...READIT! if you like drama...READ IT! If you know someone in the philippines...READ IT! I really had no idea of what happened over there or what role the usa had played over there. I don't think it was even mentioned in school. A real eye opener. Uhh, can you tell i liked it?

Soldiers Falling into Camp: The Battles at the Rosebud and the Little Big Horn
Published in Hardcover by Affiliated Writers of Amer (June, 1992)
Average review score:

Native American Version of Battle of the Little Big HornSomeone should do a movie version of this book. With all the excellent Native American actors and actresses we have today, I'm sure that America would enjoy the Native American version of this saga. Greasy Grass better known as The Battle of Little Big Horn in this version excels in bitter truth and, in triumphant victory for the Native Americans. Everyone would walk away with much food for thought.

Solo Guitar Playing II
Published in Paperback by Music Sales Corp (June, 1997)
Average review score:

Part 2 of an excellent instruction series-A big step upIf you are unfamiliar with Noad's "Solo Guitar Playing I", I would highly recommend that you start there first. Book II is an order of magnitude more difficult. The author does an excellent job of introducing you to each new piece of music and pointing out problem sections that will need extra practice or that have tricky fingering. When necessary he also presents exercises or patterns that help to exemplify a piece or that will be used throughout a piece. Overall, the book is well written and the material is well presented. It does not "hold your hand" as much as book one did and the music selections are quite a bit more challenging. I would recommend it only to the experienced guitarist or to those who have completed Book I. If you are able to make it through this book you will have built a phenomenal classical repertoire.
